It belongs to the Arrondissement Cambrai and the canton Le Cateau-Cambrésis (until 2015: Canton Marcoing ). The inhabitants of the place are called Crépicordien (ne) s .

Crèvecœur is located in the valley of the Scheldt ( French l'Escaut ) 8.1 km south of Cambrai . Neighboring communities are Niergnies in the north, Séranvillers-Forenville in the north-east, Lesdain in the east, Esnes in the south-east, Aubencheul-aux-Bois in the south, Bantouzelle in the south-west, Les Rues-des-Vignes in the west and Rumilly-en-Cambrésis in the north-west.
