The 2002/03 DFB-Pokal was the 60th staging of the men's soccer cup. The games began on August 28th and ended with the final in the Olympiastadion Berlin on May 31st, 2003. The cup winner was FC Bayern Munich , who beat 1. FC Kaiserslautern 3-1 . In the round of 16, Bayern had eliminated defending champions FC Schalke 04 on penalties.
The DFB Cup winner was given the right to start in the first round of the 2003/04 UEFA Cup . However, since Bayern had already qualified as German champions for the 2003/04 UEFA Champions League , the defeated cup finalist 1. FC Kaiserslautern was allowed to start in the UEFA Cup. This failed in the first round at the Czech cup winner FK Teplice .
