Location of Kragau in Odenthal

Kragau is a residential area in Oberodenthal in the municipality of Odenthal in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

Location and description

Kragau is located on federal highway 506 in the east of the municipality on the border with Kürten .

history

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Steinbach , proves that the residential area was categorized as a courtyard in 1715 and was called Krag Auen . Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Kagauen . Kragau is shown as part of Oberodenthal, but this seems to have been a mistake by Wiebeking. Kragau was part of the Honschaft Bechen in the parish of the same name in the district court of Kürten and thus part of the Bergisches Amt Steinbach, as can also be seen in Ploennis.

Under French administration between 1806 and 1813, the Honschaft was dissolved and Kragau was politically assigned to the Mairie Kürten in the canton of Wipperfürth in the Elberfeld arrondissement . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Kürten in the Wipperfürth district .

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 as Kragau and on the Prussian first survey from 1840 as Krachau . From 1892 onwards, the Prussian new admission , it is regularly recorded as Kragau or without a name on measuring table sheets .

In 1975, due to the Cologne Act, today's municipality of Odenthal was created, which was added to Kragau and other districts.
