Notre Dame de Laghet monastery

La Trinité (also: Trinité-Victor as a tribute to I. Victor Emmanuel ) is a French municipality with 10,017 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Alpes-Maritimes in the region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Nice , the Canton of Nice-7 and the Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur . The inhabitants are called Trinitaires .

geography

La Trinité is located on the Paillon River , directly to the northeast of Nice , less than ten kilometers from the city center.

history

Already historically, La Trinité was a not insignificant place on the road from Nice to Turin , which had previously been laid out as Via Julia Augusta . The Notre Dame de Laghet monastery was founded in 1674 as a convent of the Discalced Carmelites in the local village of Laghet, based on the chapel built in 1652, in which the miracles of the Blessed Virgin Mary should have occurred .
