Les Essards is a French municipality with 193 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Charente in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement Angoulême , the canton Tude-et-Lavalette and the municipality association Lavalette Tude Dronne, founded in 2017 . The inhabitants are called Les Essartais .

Les Essards is located in the south of the historic Angoumois province , about 45 kilometers south of Angoulême . Les Essards is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Rouffiac in the north and northwest, Saint-Romain in the northeast, Bonnes in the east, Saint Aulaye-Puymangou in the south and southeast, Parcoul-Chenaud in the south and southwest and Saint-Quentin-de-Chalais in the west.
