The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Angoulême and the canton of Val de Nouère (until 2015: canton of Hiersac ). The inhabitants are called Garobiers .

Asnières-sur-Nouère is located about eight kilometers west of Angoulême in the cultural landscape of the Angoumois . The Nouère flows through the west of the municipality. Asnières-sur-Nouère is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Genis-d'Hiersac in the north, Marsac in the northeast, Vindelle in the east, Fléac in the southeast, Saint-Saturnin in the south, Hiersac in the southwest, Douzat in the west and Saint-Amant- de-Nouère in the northwest.
