Les Essards is located in the south of the historic Angoumois province , about 45 kilometers south of Angoulême . Les Essards is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Rouffiac in the north and northwest, Saint-Romain in the northeast, Bonnes in the east, Saint Aulaye-Puymangou in the south and southeast, Parcoul-Chenaud in the south and southwest and Saint-Quentin-de-Chalais in the west.
