Châtignac is a western French community with 176 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Charente in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Angoulême and the canton of Tude-et-Lavalette (until 2015 Brossac ).

Châtignac is located about 45 kilometers south-southwest of Angoulême in the cultural landscape of the Angoumois . Châtignac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Sainte-Soline in the north and north-west, Saint-Félix in the north, Saint-Laurent-des-Combes in the east and north-east, Brie-sous-Chalais in the south and south-east, Brossac in the south-west and Passirac in the west.
