Courlac is located in the south of the historic province of Angoumois , about 39 kilometers south-southwest of Angoulême . Courlac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Montboyer in the north and west, Bellon in the east and northeast, Saint-Romain in the east and southeast and Orival in the south and southwest.
