The Ligue 2 2008/09 was the 70th staging of the second highest French football league . The season began on August 1, 2008 and ended on May 29, 2009. Le Havre AC became second division champions .

Racing Lens , Racing Strasbourg and FC Metz were relegated from Ligue 1 , while FC Tours , OC Vannes and Olympique Nîmes rose from the third division .

    1 The game Stade Reims - Stade Brest (11th matchday, 0: 1) was first canceled and rescheduled due to the use of an ineligible player. The game was repeated on April 21, 2009 and Reims won 3-2, but was eventually canceled by the LFP and the result of the first game on October 17, 2008 confirmed.
