The Logan County is a county in the US state of Oklahoma . The county seat is Guthrie .

The county is located north of the geographic center of Oklahoma and covers an area of 1940 square kilometers, of which 12 square kilometers are water. It is bordered clockwise by the following counties: Garfield County , Payne County , Lincoln County , Oklahoma County, and Kingfisher County .
history
Logan County was formed as the original Free Territory county in 1890. The county was settled by white settlers during the first official land occupation ( Oklahoma Land Run ) on April 22, 1889. It was named after John Alexander Logan , a US general in the Mexican-American War and the American Civil War , and later United States Senator and candidate for Vice President of the United States.

According to the 2000 census , Logan County had 33,924 people in 12,389 households and 8,994 families. The population density was 18 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 81.58 percent white, 11.02 percent African American, 2.90 percent Native American, 0.34 percent Asian, 0.05 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 1.2 percent were from others ethnic groups and 2.91 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 2.91 percent of the population.
Of the 12,389 households, 33.7 percent had children under the age of 18 living with them. 59.2 percent were married couples living together, 9.8 percent were single mothers. 27.4 percent were not families, 23.7 percent were single households, and 9.7 percent of the households had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.04 people.
25.5 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 12.0 percent between 18 and 24, 26.5 percent between 25 and 44, 23.7 percent between 45 and 64 and 12.3 percent were 65 years or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 97.6 males. For every 100 women aged 18 years or over, there were 92.9 men.
The median income for a household in the city was $ 36,784 , and the median income for a family was $ 44,340. Males had a median income of $ 31,345 versus $ 22,677 for females. The per capita income was $ 17,872. 8.7 percent of families and 12.9 percent of the population were below the poverty line.
