Mancioux is a French commune with 409 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Garonne department in the Occitanie region . The inhabitants are called Manciousains . The population increased from 377 (1962) to the current level.
Mancioux is located 21 kilometers northeast of Saint-Gaudens on the Canal de Saint-Martory irrigation canal and at the confluence of the Garonne with its tributary Noue . The connection to the French motorway network is made by the A64 autoroute .
Since the end of the 19th century, the newfound possibility of using hydropower to generate energy led to industrial activities in Mancioux, the focus of which was a hydropower plant. The three municipalities of Mancioux, Roquefort-sur-Garonne and Boussens used a narrow section of the Garonne in the Massif du Plantaurel to build this plant. From 1912 to 1917 there was therefore a local industry in Mancioux.
