Villeneuve-de-Rivière ( Occitan Vilanava d'Arribèra ) is a French commune with 1,794 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Garonne department in the Occitania region ; it is part of the arrondissement of Saint-Gaudens and the canton of Saint-Gaudens . The inhabitants are called Villeneuvois .

geography

Villeneuve-de-Rivière is located in the historic province of Comminges at the foot of the Pyrenees and on the banks of the Garonne , about 83 kilometers southwest of Toulouse . Villeneuve-de-Rivière is surrounded by the neighboring communities Saux-et-Pomarède in the north and northeast, Saint-Gaudens in the east, Valentine in the southeast, Labarthe-Rivière in the south and Bordes-de-Rivière in the west.

The A64 autoroute runs through the municipality .
