Clarac ( identical in Occitan ) is a French commune with 630 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Garonne department in the Occitania region (before 2016 Midi-Pyrénées ); it is part of the arrondissement of Saint-Gaudens and the canton of Saint-Gaudens (until 2015 Montréjeau ). The inhabitants are called Claracais .
geography
Clarac is located in the historic province of Comminges at the foot of the Pyrenees and on the banks of the Garonne , about 90 kilometers southwest of Toulouse . Clarac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Cuing in the north, Bordes-de-Rivière in the east, Pointis-de-Rivière in the south and Ponlat-Taillebourg in the north-west.
The A64 autoroute runs through the municipality . The Saint-Gaudens-Montréjeau airfield is also located here .
