Fabas ( Occitan : Havars ) is a French commune with 201 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Garonne department in the Occitanie region ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Gaudens and to the community association Cœur et Coteaux du Comminges, founded in 2016 . The inhabitants are called Fabassiens .
geography
Fabas is located on the northeast of the plateau of Lannemezan in the north of the historical province of Comminges , about 29 kilometers northeast of Saint-Gaudens and about 50 kilometers southwest of Toulouse . The Touch , a tributary of the Garonne, flows through the municipal area of 18.68 km² in a west-east direction . In the west of the municipality lies the Forêt de Fabas, a large forest area; otherwise the image of the community is characterized by arable and meadow areas with smaller forests. The community consists of numerous hamlets, which were often laid out like bastides on hilltops, and many individual farms. The largest districts are Les Hourques, Le Plan, Peyron and Manan . Fabas is surrounded by the neighboring communities Coueilles in the north, Castelgaillard and Labastide-Paumès in the northeast, Polastron in the east, Lussan-Adeilhac in the southeast, Eoux and Peyrissas in the south, Saint-André in the southwest, Salerm in the west and Saint-Frajou in the northwest.

Economy and Infrastructure
27 farms are based in Fabas (grain cultivation, breeding of cattle, sheep, goats and horses).
Fabas is located away from the nationally important traffic routes. The A64 autoroute runs 20 kilometers southwest of the municipality . The train station in the small town of Cazères, 23 kilometers away, is on the Toulouse – Bayonne railway line .
