Mazères-sur-Salat is a French commune with 621 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Garonne department in the Occitanie region ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Saint-Gaudens and to the municipal association Cagire Garonne Salat, founded in 2016 . The inhabitants are called Macériens .
geography
Mazères-sur-Salat is located in the high mountain landscape of the central Pyrenees in the south of the historical province of Comminges , about 20 kilometers east-northeast of Saint-Gaudens and about 30 kilometers from the border with Spain , on the Salat River , which borders the municipality to the east. Mazères-sur-Salat is surrounded by the neighboring communities Roquefort-sur-Garonne in the north and northeast, Cassagne in the east, Salies-du-Salat in the south, Montsaunès in the southwest and Saint-Martory in the west.
