Arbon is a French commune with 102 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Garonne department in the Occitanie region (previously Midi-Pyrénées ). The inhabitants are known as Arbonnais .

geography

The municipality is located in Comminges , 20 kilometers south of Saint-Gaudens , at the foot of the Pyrenees .

Neighboring municipalities are: Izaut-de-l'Hôtel , Juzet-d'Izaut , Cazaunous and Malvezie .

history

The place was created when the higher-lying town of Campels was abandoned after a plague epidemic and Arbon was founded.

The ruins of a castle from the 14th century still exist from Campels.
