Ausson ( identical in Occitan ) is a French commune with 586 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Garonne department in the Occitania region (before 2016 Midi-Pyrénées ); it is part of the arrondissement of Saint-Gaudens and the canton of Saint-Gaudens (until 2015 Montréjeau ). The inhabitants are called Aussonnais .

Ausson is located in the historic province of Comminges at the foot of the Pyrenees and on the banks of the Garonne , about 90 kilometers southwest of Toulouse . Ausson is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Les Tourreilles in the north and north-west, Ponlat-Taillebourg in the north-east, Pointis-de-Rivière in the east, Huos in the south, Gourdan-Polignan in the south-west and Montréjeau in the west.
