Cazères (also: Cazères-sur-Garonne ; Occitan : Casèras ) is a French commune with 4889 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Garonne department and the Occitanie region . Cazères belongs to the arrondissement Muret and is the main town ( chef-lieu ) of the canton of Cazères . The inhabitants are called Cazèrien (ne) s .
geography
Cazères is located on the Garonne River in the historic county of Comminges , 60 km south of Toulouse . Cazères is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lavelanet-de-Comminges in the north, Saint-Julien-sur-Garonne in the north-east, Gensac-sur-Garonne in the east, Saint-Christaud in the south-east, Couladère and Saint-Michel in the south, Palaminy in the south-west, Mondavezan to the west and north-west and Le Fousseret to the north and north-west.
The A64 autoroute and the former national route 125 run through the municipality .
