Saint-Sulpice-sur-Lèze ( Occitan : Sent Somplesi ) is a French commune with 2,389 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Garonne department in the Occitania region . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Muret and the canton of Auterive (until 2015: canton of Carbonne ). Its inhabitants are called Saint-Sulpiciens .
geography
Saint-Sulpice-sur-Lèze is located about 32 kilometers south-southwest of Toulouse and 14 kilometers south of Muret on the Lèze river . Saint-Sulpice-sur-Lèze is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Montaut in the north and west, Auribail in the north-east, Lagrâce-Dieu in the east, Esperce in the south-east, Lézat-sur-Lèze in the south and Montgazin in the south and south-west.
The former route nationale 622 (today's D622) runs through the municipality .
history
Saint-Sulpice-sur-Lèze is a bastide founded in 1257 by Alfonso de Poitiers. Here there was a command of the Order of St. John from the 14th century.
