It belongs to the arrondissement of Muret and is part of the canton of Escalquens (until 2015: canton of Nailloux ). The inhabitants are called Auragnais .

Auragne is located about 24 kilometers south-southeast of Toulouse in the Lauragais landscape . Auragne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Issus and Noueilles in the north, Saint-Léon in the east, Mauvaisin in the south and south-east, Auterive in the south and west and Labruyère-Dorsa in the west and north-west.
