Montesquieu-Volvestre ( Occitan : Montesquiu de Volvèstre ) is a French commune with 3,032 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Garonne department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Muret and the canton of Auterive (until 2015: canton of Montesquieu-Volvestre ). The inhabitants are called Montesquivien (ne) s .

Montesquieu-Volvestre is located about 47 kilometers south-southwest of Toulouse on the Arize . Montesquieu is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Rieux-Volvestre in the north and north-west, Mailholas in the north, Bax in the north-east, Latour in the east, Loubaut and La Bastide-de-Besplas in the south-east, Thouars-sur-Arize , Fornex and Montbrun-Bocage in the south and southeast, Lahitère in the south, Gouzens and Montberaud in the southwest and Saint-Christaud and Goutevernisse in the west.

The former Routes nationales 627 (today's D627) and 628 (today's D628) run through the municipality .

Montesquieu-Volvestre was founded as a bastide in 1238 by Raimund VII .
