geography

The municipality of Fonsorbes is located in the historic province of Savès , 20 kilometers southwest of downtown Toulouse . The Garonne tributary River Touch separates the core town of Fonsorbes from the district of Nouguéris to the southeast .

history

In ancient times , a Roman road from Toulouse to Dax passed nearby; here was the Mansus domain , which was later called Mas Saint Pierre after Christianization . In 475 Gaudens, killed by the Visigoths, was buried here. In the 8th century a monastery was founded that took his name; A village developed around the monastery, from which the city developed.
