The 1941–42 NHL season was the 25th season in the National Hockey League . Seven teams played 48 games each. The Stanley Cup won the Toronto Maple Leafs after a 4-3 win in the final series against the Detroit Red Wings . The Wings had already led 0: 3 in the final series. The Second World War by no means left the NHL unaffected. Toronto's manager Conn Smythe signed up for military service. Numerous players, including Boston's " Kraut Line ", responded to his call.
