history
Mühldörfel was first mentioned in a document in 1350, but copper and silver had been mined in the area since the 13th century. The place, which belonged to Messrs. Kropacz von Frankstadt, who had their seat on the castle of the same name, was later called Frankstadt and in 1398 was called a village. At that time, Frankstadt was the economic center of the Rabenstein rule . In 1569 the town was sold to the town of Mährisch Schönberg . During this time its importance was lost and from 1583 Frankstadt was considered a village that remained subordinate to Mährisch Schönberg until the abolition of patrimonial rule in 1850.
Industrialization began in the second half of the 19th century. The construction of the Moravian border railway from Mährisch Schönberg to Olomouc in 1872 promoted this development. In 1910 there were 2320 people in Frankstadt and in 1930 there were 2307.
After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Empire and until 1945 belonged to the Mährisch Schönberg district .
After the Second World War, the German residents were expelled and former soldiers from the village of Český Malín, which was burned down by German troops on July 13, 1943 (German Czech Malin , Rajon Mlyniw , Rivne Oblast , Ukraine ) in Volhynia , as well as other Volhynian Czechs , Wallachians, Slovaks and Population from the Ostrava area.
In 1947 the place name Frankštát was changed to Nový Malín. In 1949 Nový Malín was incorporated in the course of the expansion of the town of Šumperk and in 1953 regained its independence. On March 1, 2003 Mladoňov, which until then was a district of Oskava, was umgemeindet to Nový Malín.
