The 1913-14 Austrian Football Championship was how, in the previous year by the Lower Austrian Football Association aligned. Only teams from Vienna and the Vienna suburbs were eligible to participate . Clubs from the crown lands had no opportunity to participate in the championship. Instead of the relegation games, a direct promotion and relegation was introduced for the first time.

Austrian heartland

In today's Austrian heartland, the Lower Austrian Football Association (NÖV) held a championship in Lower Austria and Vienna . A championship was also held in Styria , in which Carinthian clubs could play, which was organized by the German-Alpine Football Association (DAFV).

General

The championship in the first class was contested by 10 teams, each of which met twice during the entire season. The Vienna Association FC became Austrian football champions for the first and only time this season . The WAF and the SK Rapid Wien team fought a tough duel throughout the season, which was only decided in the last round in a direct encounter between the two opponents. Rapid needed a win for their third championship title in a row, but a draw is enough for the Vienna Association FC to win the championship. Since the game ended in a 1: 1 draw, the champions were not called Rapid Vienna for the first time.

The question of relegation was curious this season : After the second division champion had always been defeated in the relegation games to the first class in the previous years, the officials of First Vienna FC submitted an application for the introduction of an automatic promotion and relegation regulation in 1894 . The Lower Austrian Football Association granted this request and decided that the last club in the first class could be relegated and the champions of the second class could be promoted without relegation. With First Vienna FC 1894 Wien, of all things, the club making the application was in last place in the table at the end of the season and immediately protested against this (self-proposed!) Regulation. The association rejected the protest, whereupon Vienna immediately resigned and founded its own rival association, the Football Union of Austrian Nations , FUAN for short, in German Football Union of the Austrian Peoples . Some clubs in Austria and Bohemia joined the association. The union was dissolved again after two years, after which the First Vienna FC returned ruefully in 1894 to the actual football association.

EK1The 1. Simmeringer SC tried, after losing the home ground it had acquired in the summer of 1913, to play its home games on the old Simmeringer Platz. The NFV forbade him and the games were played on other courts, mostly on the WAC field.

    General

    The championship in the second class A was contested by 13 teams who met twice during the entire season. SC Wacker Wien won the third championship title in the second class A in a row and was finally allowed to move up to the first class as the first club. The newcomers from second class B were very strong in their play. Admira Wien surprisingly took second place, the Hakoah sensationally third. The relegated from the second class A are not known because the data for the following season are missing. The SK Admira started in 1913 under the name 1. Groß-Floridsdorfer FK Admira in the championship, renamed itself during the season.

    The German Football Association for Bohemia held its second championship this season. A Czech football championship was held in 1914 , which was organized by the Český svaz footballový (ČSF).

    General

    There were four participants for the championship of the DFVfB, Karlsbader FK, Teplitzer FK and the two Prague clubs DSB Prague and DFC Prague, the latter won the championship.

    The Austrian championship in Poland was canceled after three rounds because of the beginning of the First World War . At that time Cracovia led Kraków, who was rated as the last champion of the German Football Association for Poland .
