As a result of the revolution of 1848, there was also a reform of the state structure in the Grand Duchy of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach . In 1850, the previous offices were abolished and replaced by district offices, judicial offices and accounting offices, and patrimonial jurisdiction was abolished. The district of the Neustadt an der Orla district court was congruent with that of the previous judicial office.

The judicial reform that became necessary after the formation of the state of Thuringia led to a complete redesign of the Neustadt district court district. The district court of Auma became a department of the AG Neustadt an der Orla, consisting of the places Auma , Braunsdorf , Forstwolfersdorf , Gütterlitz , Köthnitz , Leubsdorf (with Lemnitz and Tömmelsdorf ), Tischendorf , Uhlersdorf , Untendorf , Wöhlsdorf (with Wiebelsdorf a . In contrast, the municipalities of Bucha, Dreba, Knau, Neudeck with Plothen, Posen, Schöndorf, Tausa and Volkmannsdorf had to go to the Schleiz district court as well as Daumitsch, Döbritz, Grobengereuth, Keila, Kleindembach, Kolba, Langendembach, Laskau, Nimritz, Oberoppurg, Oppurg, Rehmen and Solkwitz can be handed over to the Pößneck District Court .

On January 1, 1927, the Auma department , which had been expanded since April 1, 1926 to include the municipal districts of Birkhausen, Chursdorf , Döblitz, Geheege, Geroda, Krölpa , Mittelpöllnitz, Moßbach , Muntscha , Oberpöllnitz and Triptis, became an independent district court again.

After the largest part of the now finally dissolved district court of Auma could be added again on October 1, 1949, the district court of Neustadt an der Orla was repealed on January 1, 1952, and its district came to the district court of Gera .
