Berg is a French commune with 365 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Saverne and the Canton of Ingwiller .
geography
Just like the neighboring village of Thal , Berg is not on the top, but in a valley. Originally, however, the village was on the heights. The old church on the Kirchberg with its widely visible church, the landmark of Crooked Alsace , characterizes the original location.
history
From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Berg belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the district of Zabern in the district of Lower Alsace .
