The Chevrolet Lacetti (internal Type J200) was a five-door compact car - cars of the South Korean manufacturer GM Daewoo , which was manufactured by the beginning of 2004 until the end of 2010.

The model was adopted by Daewoo Lacetti with a modified grille and new brand logos after General Motors decided to sell the Daewoo vehicles under the Chevrolet brand from early 2005 . The notchback and station wagon variant on which the Lacetti was based were called Chevrolet Nubira in Germany .

Production was stopped at the end of 2010. The Chevrolet Cruze J300 introduced in May 2009 replaced the Lacetti.

Development and start of production

The car was designed by Italdesign around Giorgetto Giugiaro . But not only the sheet metal shape, but also numerous technical components, such as the standard anti-lock braking system from Bosch, came from Europe; In addition, the chassis was tuned in England.

The Lacetti was formally presented as Daewoo on September 13, 2003 at the IAA in Frankfurt am Main, announced for a market launch in February 2004 and came onto the German market on April 24, 2004. Initially, there was a choice of three four-cylinder petrol engines from 70 kW to 89 kW, as well as three equipment versions.

Engines

Otto engines:

• 1.4 liter four-cylinder engine with 1399 cm³ displacement and a maximum output of 70 kW (95 PS)
• 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with 1598 cm³ displacement and a maximum output of 80 kW (109 PS)
• 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with 1799 cm³ displacement and a maximum output of 89 kW (121 PS)

Diesel engine:

• 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 1991 cm³ displacement and a maximum output of 89 kW (121 PS)

Equipment and prices

Germany

Prices started at € 14,490 (1.6  SE ) and ended with the CDX diesel model at € 20,090. (As of September 2007)

The Chevrolet Lacetti was available in three equipment schemes from the start of production: the cheapest version SE , followed by SX and the best equipment CDX . However, certain engines were linked to equipment, so the smallest engine was only available with SE equipment, the medium-sized petrol engine was only available as an SX and the CDX models were available with either a 1.8-l petrol engine or diesel. The diesel engine was also available in the SX version .

Each version had power steering , four airbags , ABS with EBV , power windows at the front, a CD radio with four speakers, a coolable glove box, ventilation nozzles in the rear, central locking with remote control and a manually controlled air conditioning system. In the higher-quality equipment, additional extras were added, such as fog lights, light alloy wheels, power windows also at the rear, leather steering wheel, decorative elements in aluminum gloss on the center console, five-disc CD changer, automatic air conditioning, rain sensor and cruise control.

There was also an accessories catalog with other light alloy wheels, sports options or protective strips. A navigation system, auxiliary heating, parking aid, seat heating and transport solutions can also be retrofitted at the dealer.

From July 2006 the Black Edition special model was also available as a 1.6 SX and 1.8 CDX. At a reduced price there were 17-inch aluminum wheels, a body lowered by 30 mm, aluminum door sill and gear knob, and a lettering on the rear. From 2007 there was the special model "Edition", which offered several colors with the same equipment.

Vehicle variants for gaseous fuels

Chevrolet offered the Lacetti ex works with an LPG system. The gas tank was installed in the spare wheel well with a capacity of 53 liters of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) instead of the spare wheel . The range of the vehicle was thus extended by up to 450 km.

Registration numbers

Between 2004 and 2010, a total of 7,043 Lacetti were newly registered in the Federal Republic of Germany. With 1,799 units, 2005 was the most successful sales year.
