Holdorf is a municipality in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. The municipality is administered by the Rehna Office , based in the city of the same name .
geography
The municipality of Holdorf is located on the Radegast river between the small towns of Gadebusch and Rehna . The municipality of Holdorfs has a share of the Schaalsee biosphere reserve in the west and is partly located on the North Sea-Baltic watershed . While the Radegast flows over the Trave into the Baltic Sea, the streams and ditches drain southwest of Holdorf over the Schaale to the Elbe and thus to the North Sea.

In 1994, archaeologists investigated fire graves from the Iron Age near Holdorf .
history
On January 1, 1951, the previously independent municipality of Klein Hundorf was incorporated.
From 1995 to 2009 one of the most important fire brigade museums in Germany, which has been run as the state fire brigade museum Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania since 2001 , was in the district of Meetzen. Most recently, over 16,000 exhibits were shown, including over 150 vehicles and trailers. In 2009 the museum moved to the hall at the television tower in Schwerin, which has not been used for cultural events since then . The technical area with the workshops for the restoration and a museum with around 1000 m² of exhibition space remained in Meetzen.

Coat of arms, flag, official seal
The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription "GEMEINDE HOLDORF • LANDKREIS NORDWESTMECKLENBURG".
Attractions
The Radegast (water) purpose association is housed in Schloss Holdorf. The half-timbered church from 1751 and the manor house in the district of Meetzen are also worth seeing. It is a two-story brick building.

Holdorf is on the federal highway 104 , which leads from Lübeck to Schwerin and on the Schwerin – Rehna railway line .
