Monthault Town Hall

Monthault ( Breton : Brennaod ; Gallo : Montaut ) is a French municipality with 265 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine in the region of Brittany ; it belongs to the arrondissement Fougères-Vitré and is part of the canton Fougères-2 (until 2015: canton Louvigné-du-Désert ). The inhabitants are called Monthaltais .

Monthault is about 17 kilometers north of Fougères . Monthault is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët (district: Saint-Martin-de-Landelles ) in the north, Saint-Brice-de-Landelles in the northeast, Louvigné-du-Désert in the east, Mellé in the south and Saint -Georges-de-Reintembault to the west.
