Saint-Jean-sur-Vilaine ( Breton: Sant-Yann-ar-Gwilen ) is a French municipality with 1266 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine in the region of Brittany ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Fougères-Vitré and the canton of Châteaugiron (until 2015: canton of Châteaubourg ). The inhabitants are called Saint-Jeannais .

geography

Saint-Jean-sur-Vilaine is about 22 kilometers east of Rennes . The Vilaine limits the municipality to the south. Saint-Jean-sur-Vilaine is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Marpiré in the north, Champeaux in the northeast, Pocé-les-Bois in the east, Saint-Aubin-des-Landes in the south and southeast, Cornillé in the south, and Saint-Didier in the south Southwest and Châteaubourg in the west.
