Martigné-Ferchaud ( Breton : Marzhinieg-Houarnruz , Gallo : Marteinyaé-FERCHAUD ) is a French municipality with 2603 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine in the region of Brittany ; it belongs to the arrondissement Fougères-Vitré and is part of the canton of La Guerche-de-Bretagne . The inhabitants are called Martignolais .
geography
The Semnon flows through the municipality of Martigné-Ferchaud, forming the 80-hectare lake Étang de la Forge (also called: Étang de Martigné). In the south and southeast of the municipality is the Forêt d'Araize (9.47 square kilometers). Martigné-Ferchaud is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Retiers in the north, Forges-la-Forêt in the north and northeast, Eancé in the east, Pouancé in the southeast, Villepot and Noyal-sur-Brutz in the south, Fercé in the southwest, Thourie in the west and Sainte- Colombe in the northwest.
The place has a train station on the Châteaubriant – Rennes railway line .
