Le Ferré ( Breton : Ferred ) is a French municipality with 687 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine in the region of Brittany ; it belongs to the arrondissement Fougères-Vitré and is part of the canton Fougères-2 (until 2015: canton Louvigné-du-Désert ). The inhabitants are called Ferréens .
geography
Le Ferré is located about 17 kilometers north-northwest of Fougères . The municipality is crossed by the Guerge River and the Beuvron delimits the municipality to the east. Le Ferré is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-James and Montjoie-Saint-Martin in the north, Saint-Georges-de-Reintembault in the east, Poilley in the south and south-east, Montours in the south and south-west, Coglès in the west and south-west and Carnet in the north-west .
history
During the Chouannerie , the Battle of Valennes and des Maison-neuves took place here in 1796. The Republican troops won against the insurgents both times.
