Macken is a municipality in the Mayen-Koblenz district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Rhein-Mosel community , which has its administrative headquarters in Kobern-Gondorf .
The place is on the Moselle heights in the Hunsrück . There are almost 500 hectares of forest in the district.
history
To the southwest of the village, not far from the road in the direction of Eveshausen, Michael Hammes (ARRATA e.V.) found a fragment of a pecked oval hatchet that dates back to the Neolithic Age. Comparable finds have been made in Mermuth , Beulich , Morshausen and Oberfell since 2005 .
In the Old Kingdom , Macken belonged to the tribal Beltheim court .

Municipal council
The council in quirks consists of eight council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
mayor
Marco Kneip (CDU) became local mayor of Macken on November 27, 2018. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in his office for five years with 88.63% of the vote. Marco Kneipp's predecessor was Werner Wolf, who died unexpectedly in August 2018.
