The 1974/75 UEFA Cup was the fourth edition of the competition and was won by Borussia Mönchengladbach . This was the first victory of a German team in this competition. In addition to the team trained by Hennes Weisweiler , 1. FC Köln , Hamburger SV and Fortuna Düsseldorf from the Federal Republic of Germany competed . The GDR was represented by Dynamo Dresden and Vorwärts Frankfurt (Oder) , Austria by SSW Innsbruck , SK Rapid Wien and SK Sturm Graz and Switzerland by Servette Geneva and the Grasshopper Club Zurich .

The participants played the winner in pure cup mode with home and away games. In the event of a tie, the away goal rule decided first , then there was an extension , after which the away goal rule came into force again; should there still be no winner, a penalty shoot-out followed .
