The former Route 66 , the most famous expressway connection between Chicago , Illinois and Santa Monica , California , runs through the county .

history
Webster County was formed in 1855. It was named after Daniel Webster (1782-1852), a US politician , US senator and secretary of state .
On April 18, 1880, a tornado destroyed large parts of this area, killing 99 and injuring over 100.
Three locations in the county are on the National Register of Historic Places (as of February 7, 2018).
