Last year's winner Andy Murray was able to confidently defend his title. He won the final against the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets and thus secured his 25th career title. Max Mirny and Daniel Nestor won the tournament in doubles last year. This year Marcelo Melo and Tommy Robredo won the title. In the final, they beat the top seeded duo Eric Butorac and Paul Hanley in three sets. For the two of them it was the first joint title on the ATP World Tour.
The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs.
Qualification for the Brisbane International 2013 took place from December 29 to December 31, 2012. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
At the Brisbane International 2013, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The amounts for the double competition were per player.
