The defending champion in the individual Novak Đoković appeared again this year and was placed in first position. He failed in the semifinals against the former world number one Roger Federer , who in turn won the tournament for the sixth time. In the final, he defeated Tomáš Berdych in three sets and won his 78th career title in individual. Mahesh Bhupathi and Michaël Llodra won the doubles title last year. This year the two top seeded duos faced each other. Thereby gained Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi against Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjić in two sets of 6: 4 and 6: 3rd For Bopanna this was the second title in Dubai after 2012.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs.
