Forgot About Dre is a song by the American rapper and music producer Dr. Dre , which he recorded in collaboration with the rapper Eminem . The song is the second single from his second studio album in 2001 and was released on January 29, 2000.

content

Thematically, the track is an announcement to all of Dr. Dre understand. Dre raps that many are jealous of his success and therefore hate him and call his music pop just because he makes money from it. He continued to work hard and through many nights, and the awards and trophies he had won would confirm him. Dre reminds his critics of his time with the rap group NWA and that he discovered Snoop Dogg and made him famous.

Eminem takes over the chorus and a verse in the song. He slips into the role of his alter ego Slim Shady and raps about arson and the fact that he kills another man just because he looks at him crookedly. In the chorus he says that nowadays everyone wants to have their say, nothing sensible comes out of it and everyone pretends to have forgotten about Dre. The last stanza is again taken over by Dr. Dre, who continues to insist on gang status since he's from Compton and still has guns. He will show no more consideration and warns his critics against false statements, since he was already successful when they were still children.

During Eminem's verse the scene changes and he and Dre can be seen driving a car into a garden fence under the influence of drugs, which leads to an argument with a local resident. The song is now interrupted by a skit , and Eminem gives reporter Jane Yamamoto an interview while the resident's house is burning in the background and is being extinguished by the fire department. Then he and Dre are exposed as arsonists and taken away by the police. Other scenes show Eminem and Dre rapping between fire and blue light. At the end of the video, the beat changes and rapper Hittman raps a verse that is not on the official version of the track.
