The 2011 Brazilian Grand Prix took place on November 27th at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace in São Paulo and was the 19th and final race of the 2011 Formula 1 World Championship .

After the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix , Sebastian Vettel led the drivers' standings with 119 points from Jenson Button and 129 points from Fernando Alonso . Red Bull-Renault led the constructors' championship with 125 points ahead of McLaren-Mercedes and with 254 points ahead of Ferrari . Vettel and Red Bull-Renault were already established as world champions ahead of time.

At the Brazilian Grand Prix, Pirelli provided the drivers with medium (white) and soft (yellow) tire compounds , as well as intermediates (light blue) and full wets (orange) for wet conditions .

At the Brazilian Grand Prix, three designers used their chassis names for the last time. Renault changed the chassis name for the coming season to Lotus , the previous team Lotus to Caterham and Virgin to Marussia .

With Michael Schumacher (four times), Felipe Massa (twice), Vettel and Mark Webber (once each), four former winners competed in this Grand Prix.

Massa started this race for Ferrari for the 100th time.

training

In the first free practice, Mark Webber was the fastest driver ahead of Button and Hamilton's McLaren. In this training Romain Grosjean took over the Renault from Vitali Petrow , Nico Hülkenberg the Force India from Adrian Sutil , Jean-Éric Vergne the Toro Rosso from Sébastien Buemi , Luiz Razia the Lotus from Jarno Trulli and Jan Charouz the HRT from Vitantonio Liuzzi . For Charouz it was the first outing on a Formula 1 weekend. In the second free practice, Hamilton achieved the fastest lap ahead of Vettel and Webber. In the third training session, Vettel took the lead in front of Button and Webber.

Qualifying

In the first part of the time practice, Button was the fastest driver. The Virgin, HRT and Lotus pilots and Pastor Maldonado were eliminated. In the second part of qualifying, Vettel took the lead. The Sauber and Toro Rosso drivers as well as Petrow, Rubens Barrichello and Paul di Resta were eliminated. In the final segment, Vettel set the fastest time and took 15th pole position this season. With that he set a new record. Webber and Button followed in the seats behind him.

Webber scored his first win of the season in this race ahead of Vettel and Button.

Vettel kept the lead at the start, but had problems with his transmission in the race, which is why he was unable to keep Webber behind.
