In 2009 he published an autobiography of the same name .
In 2010 he worked with Sasha and Henning Wehland as a feature artist on the title Endlos Sommer on the Stefan Waggershausen album So ist das Spiel mit. In 2012, Liefers accompanied the band Puhdys on their anniversary tour to mark the 40th anniversary of the band. Social and Political Activities
On November 4, 1989 - a few days before the fall of the Berlin Wall - Liefers took part in front of several hundred thousand people as a speaker at the Alexanderplatz demonstration , the final rally of the largest demonstration in GDR history, which was broadcast live on GDR television . He ended his speech with the words:
“The existing structures, the principle structures that have been adopted over and over again do not allow renewal. Therefore they have to be destroyed. We have to develop new structures for democratic socialism . And for me that means, among other things, the division of power between the majority and the minorities. "
Jan Josef Liefers supports the " Your voice against poverty" campaign , the development organization ONE as well as the NCL Foundation, which is committed to the treatment of a rare genetic childhood disease, and the Sonnenhof children's hospice in Berlin. For his social commitment he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in December 2011 and the Annemarie Renger Prize of the Workers' Samaritan Association of Germany in 2013 .
Liefers also supports the Tax Against Poverty Campaign , which is campaigning for the introduction of a financial transaction tax (FTT), the so-called Robin Hood tax . In addition, he played the leading role in the short film Steuer gegen Armut together with Heike Makatsch . A good idea? He also supports the petition against food speculation. The SPD parliamentary group in the Saxon state parliament appointed him in 2012 as the elector for Saxony at the 15th Federal Assembly for the election of Federal President Gauck .
In the course of the surveillance and espionage affair in 2013, Liefers requested asylum for the US whistleblower Edward Snowden :
“Of course I am in favor of asylum for Snowden. Germany does not refuse him asylum out of self-won conviction, but simply out of loyalty to the USA. The discussion of where on the scale between 'hero' and 'traitor' he has his place would be an extra topic for me. After all, Ms. Merkel has him to thank for the fact that she was also bugged personally. "
advertising
Since 2009 Liefers testimonial for Ferrero and advertises in television and radio commercials for Ferrero's chocolate Rocher .
Together with his Tatort colleague Axel Prahl , he has been promoting the hybrid version of the Toyota Yaris in TV spots since 2012 .
