Le Beulay |
Le Beulay is a French commune with 97 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Vosges department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Dié-des-Vosges and the canton of Saint-Dié-des-Vosges-2 . The residents call themselves Beulésiens / Beulésiennes .
geography
Le Beulay is located on the Fave , around nine kilometers (as the crow flies) east-northeast of Saint-Dié-des-Vosges in the Vosges . Le Beulay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Provenchères-et-Colroy in the northeast, Lusse in the southeast, Frapelle in the southwest and La Petite-Fosse in the northwest.
The community consists of the village of Le Beulay and a few individual farms.
history
The place is first mentioned in 1399. Like other parts of Lorraine, the parish suffered devastation during the Thirty Years' War. From 1793 to 1801, Le Beulay was part of the Saint-Dié district . From 1793 to 1801 the municipality was assigned to the canton of Bertrimoutier , and from 1801 to 1871 to the canton of Saint-Dié . After that, the place belonged to the canton of Provenchères-sur-Fave until 2015 . Administratively, Le Beulay has also been part of the Arrondissement of Saint-Dié-des-Vosges since 1801 . During the First World War, the site was the site of a battle between the Germans and the French.
