history

The place name (roughly translated: Between two waters ) first appeared in 1316 as Entre-Dous-Awes in a document as part of what is now the neighboring community of Mandray . The lower , middle and high jurisdictions were in the hands of the chapter of Saint Didel . From 1667 Entre-deux-Eaux had its own vicariate depending on the parishes in Fraize and Saulcy . The right of patronage was still held by the St. Didel chapter. The Saint-Vincent church was built in the 18th century - initially an annex to the parish in Mandray. In 1835 the town hall ( Mairie ) and the school were built. Another school was built in 1875 in the large district of Remémont . With the formation of the community structures that still exist today in 1790, Entre deux Eaux (at that time still written without a hyphen) first came to the canton of Saint-Léonard, and from 1801 to the canton of Fraize .
