The municipality of Arrentès-de-Corcieux with 179 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) is located about eight kilometers north of the town of Gérardmer in the Vosges Mountains . The municipality extends over a wooded ridge between the valleys of the Neuné in the northeast and the Vologne in the southwest.

Arrentès-de-Corcieux is not a grown village, there is no distinctive settlement core. Rather, the community is made up of the following scattered hamlets and farms:

Three quarters of the community area is forested ( Forêt Domaniale de Vologne ), agricultural land can only be found in the north of the community or on smaller clearing islands. The highest peaks are in the south of the municipality:

  • Tete des Gazons 926  m

The mountain streams Ruisseau de Rayrand, Ruisseau des Bans, B'Heumey and Corbeline have their source in the municipality of Arrentès. Except for the latter, which flows into the Vologne , they flow north to the Neuné .

Neighboring communities of Arrentès-de-Corcieux are Corcieux in the north, Gerbépal in the east, Gérardmer in the south, Barbey-Seroux in the west and Vienville in the north-west.

history

In contrast to the surrounding mountain communities, Arrentès-de-Corcieux is still relatively young. The first written mention comes from the year 1711, when the municipality belonged to the bailiwick of Bruyères . The parish was part of the parish Corcieux in the deanery Épinal . Arrentès has been part of the canton of Corcieux since 1790. During the German invasion in 1870, the town hall and the school were destroyed by fire. In 1871 the town hall could be rebuilt.

Economy and Infrastructure

Nine agricultural (cereal and fruit growing, dairy) and four forest operations are located in the municipality. In addition, tourism (holiday homes) is also playing an increasing role.

The municipality of Arrentès-de-Corcieux is located off the nationally important traffic routes. The year-round road from Corcieux to Granges-sur-Vologne (D 31) runs through the municipality . Other road connections lead to Gérardmer and Xonrupt-Longemer . In La Houssière , eight kilometers away, there is a rail connection ( Arches - Saint-Dié line ).
