The increasing mechanization of agriculture led to a decline in the number of inhabitants to the lows in recent times. The increase between 1866 and 1876 is due to immigrants from the realm of Alsace-Lorraine. In contrast to the neighboring communities, the decline between 1911 and 1921 was modest.
