New Zealand national cricket team in Australia for the 2015/16 season

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The New Zealand national cricket team's series of games in Australia in the 2015/16 season took place from October 23 to December 1, 2015. The international cricket tour was part of the 2015/16 international cricket season and included three test matches . Australia won the series 2-0.

prehistory

classification

For Australia it was the first tour of the season after the planned tour in Bangladesh was canceled. It was also the first tour of the season for New Zealand after the last tour against South Africa in August. The last meeting of the two teams on a tour took place in the 2011/12 season.

Day / night test

Australia and New Zealand agreed to hold the third test in Adelaide as the first day / night test ever. To make this possible, a pink ball was developed over several years, as the red ball that is otherwise used cannot be seen clearly enough in poor visibility conditions. This was the first time in the 138-year history of test cricket that a non-red ball was used. To prevent the ball from wearing out too quickly, more grass was left when preparing the pitch . While the experiment was generally considered a success, players criticized the impact on the game of the pink ball.
