Location of the community Blekendorf in the district of Plön | ||
Blekendorf is a municipality in the Plön district in Schleswig-Holstein . The community consists of the villages Blekendorf, Friederikental , Futterkamp , Kaköhl , Nessendorf , Rathlau , Sechendorf and Sehlendorf . Blekendorf is the largest municipality in terms of area within the Lütjenburg district and, after the city of Lütjenburg, the municipality with the most inhabitants. There are landscape and nature reserves in the district of Sehlendorf. The almost four-kilometer-long Sehlendorfer Strand and various tourist facilities located there make the community known nationwide.
Geography and traffic
Blekendorf is located on the federal highway 202 about 4 km east of Lütjenburg on the Hohwachter Bay. Characterized by the terminal moraine landscape, the hills of the eight villages reach heights of up to 110 m above sea level. N. N.
history
Blekendorf was first mentioned in 1259 as Blegkendorpe (later documented spelling Bleckendorp ). The name probably comes from Middle Low German and means looking or shining village. Blekendorf has been the ecclesiastical center for the surrounding villages Futterkamp, Friederikenthal, Sechendorf, Sehlendorf, Rathlau and Kaköhl since the 13th century. In 1855, 258 people lived in the village of Blekendorf itself.
Blekendorf has only existed as a political municipality since September 30, 1928. Until then, Blekendorf, like Friederikenthal, Sechendorf and Sehlendorf, belonged to the Futterkamp manor district . The numerous manor districts (which were free of office until 1867, i.e. were only subordinate to the sovereign and the respective landowner) only lost the function of the lowest administrative unit in Schleswig-Holstein in 1928. The communities Kaköhl and Nessendorf with Rathlau were incorporated into Blekendorf on October 1, 1938. At first, the name and seat of the new community, which was created by a decree of the chief president, was apparently controversial. Contrary to the requested name Kaköhl, the Upper President decided in favor of Blekendorf with the following reason: " I gave the new community the name Blekendorf because, from a local history point of view, it describes the Low German character of the landscape and its inhabitants as 'Kaköhl'. "
Since 1968 the community Blekendorf belongs together with 13 other communities to the office Lütjenburg-Land. On January 1, 2008, this office was renamed after the incorporation of the city of Lütjenburg into Amt Lütjenburg .
