Volnay is a French commune and a wine village in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in the Côte-d'Or department , about five kilometers southwest of Beaune and one kilometer southwest of Pommard . Volnay is part of the Côte de Beaune . The community has 241 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) and is located at an altitude between 209 and 393 m above sea level. It has an area of 755 hectares .

Volnay wine region
The Volnay wine-growing region has had the status of an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC for short) since September 9, 1937 . Pinot Noir is cultivated , which is more traditionally developed here. The Premiers Crus Clos des Ducs , Clos de la Bousse d'Or , Champans , Fremiets and Clos des Chênes are among the best locations in Volnay.
