Weißenborn is a municipality in the east of the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia . The fulfilling municipality is Bad Klosterlausnitz .
geography
Weißenborn lies northeast of the Hermsdorfer Kreuz , where the motorways 4 and 9 intersect. The Hermsdorfer Kreuz is one of the largest and most important traffic hubs in Germany. Not far from the Hermsdorf Cross is the city of Hermsdorf , which borders Bad Klosterlausnitz . A neighboring town of the spa community is Weißenborn.
history
Since 1196 there has been a documentary mention of “An der Glashütte ” for the forest department 156 in the Weißenborn corridor. In 1925, 20 smaller mounds with a diameter of 8 × 12 m were found during excavations and a test excavation concluded that the remains of a house were found. The excavation success was unlucky . Surface finds show, however, glass melt residues and port fragments. The ceramic finds date from the 12th to 17th centuries. Century, all of which point to a glassworks.
Weißenborn itself was first mentioned in a document in 1350. The place belonged to the Wettin district office of Eisenberg , which was under the sovereignty of various Ernestine duchies due to several divisions in the course of its existence . In 1826 the place came with the southern part of the Eisenberg district office and the city of Eisenberg from the Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg to the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg . From 1920 he belonged to the Free State of Thuringia.

Weißenborn is the southern starting point of the Eisenberger Mühltal , through which the Rauda flows. The Thüringenweg leads through the valley. An exhibition at the Meuschkensmühle is dedicated to Milo Barus , the strongest man in the world .
